anal picky when it comes to character sheets. I like things to look and feel a certain way, and I’m almost never happy with the stock character sheet for any given roleplaying game. I’m seeking help, but so far I haven’t been able to find a support group for this particular malady. So in lieu of following a 12 step program, I typically just design my own character sheets.
Don’t get me wrong; there are a few character sheets I really like. I like the simplicity of the standard Fate Core character sheet, and I really liked the old green AD&D 2nd edition character sheets. The point is that some character sheets are better than others and – as far as I am concerned – the default Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition character sheet is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. I don’t even want to go into the details about why I feel that way. The bottom line is that I hate it, and so I’ve created my own 5th edition character sheet. I don’t have any fancy program that I use for this sort of thing (I’m not that anal about it), so if your expecting something more complex than a table-heavy word document then prepare to be dissappointed. But if you’re fine with that sort of thing then keep reading.
Stylistically, the sheet is a bit of a nod to older Dungeons and Dragons character sheets, but (I think) it still gives you everything you need for your 5th edition character in a simple, two page format. If you like it, please feel free to use it and share it as you see fit. If you don’t like it, that’s ok too; I didn’t make it for you. Here it is:
Please let me know in the comments what you like (or dislike) about this character sheet, and feel free to offer any suggestions for improvements if you have any.
