Monty Haul – A Treasure Trove of Old Dungeons and Dragons Stuff

A couple of days ago, an old friend said “You can have all of those old 1st and 2nd Edition D&D books, but the deal is you have to take them all and you have to come and get them.”

I’m not sure how to even process all of this! I was originally just interested in taking a couple of the Forgotten Realms source books and maps off of my friend’s hands, since I’m eventually going to run Princes of the Apocalypse and thought they might come in handy. But this stack has a whole host of other stuff going for it. I’m really drawn to the old modules – most of which I’m familiar with but a few of which I am not – as well as the old Dungeon and Dragon magazines. But that’s going down a much different path than just gathering source material for Princes of the Apocalypse. There’s also a good bit of Birthright stuff here, which is a setting I’ve always been intrigued by, and that path is on a whole separate plane of existence than my original path! Oh, and I haven’t even mentioned the Dragon Mountain boxed set (not pictured).

As I dig through all of this stuff I’ll probably try to resurrect some things that will be useful for 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons – things that I have no doubt are buried in all of this 1st and 2nd edition material. I’m especially interested in poring over these old Dragon Magazines, while trying not to think about what an embarrassment the Dragon+  app is by comparison.

I’m looking forward to exciting things coming soon. In the meantime, if anyone sees my wife tell her that I love her and I’ll be back from the basement soon(ish)!
